COMPANY HISTORY


Atwell Salvage & Demolition opened its doors in 1985 with two principals and one volunteer project to demolish a dozen homes for a local charity...Operation SHARE. The publicity generated from that project gained the attention of contractors, as Atwell was the only company with experience in interior demolition. The company continued to grow and expanded into structural demolition, working for 18 of the top 20 construction companies in AZ within its first five years of operations.

By 1992, the company was operating with 65 employees in several states. Customers sought Atwell’s expertise, its consultancy and project management services were in demand, and it came to be viewed as a trusted partner throughout the construction industry.

In the mid-1990’s, Atwell acquired a tank shear which expanded its capabilities into demolition of large storage tanks and vessels.  In addition, it has been handling hazmat projects such as soil remediation and mine closures for over 10 years.

Now well into its 30th year, Atwell has successfully completed more than 8,000 projects in its areas of expertise. 80% of Atwell’s business comes from repeat customers, and it continues to seek solid business partners for long-term business relationships.

Michael A. Goodhind

- President & CEO


Mick Goodhind is the founder of Atwell Salvage & Demolition. Under his leadership, the company has grown into the well-respected and trusted organization that it is today. Mick has over 40 years of hands-on demolition experience in the field. His accomplishments include developing a comprehensive demolition worker training program and most notably, working with clients to find cost-effective solutions for their projects. He is recognized in the industry as being a problem-solver and actively promotes safe work practices. He holds both hazmat material handling and MSHA certifications. He also is leading efforts to salvage and recycle materials on job sites to benefit the environment and customers, using U.S. Green Building Council and LEEDS guidelines

Duane Hustrulid

- COO


Mr. Hustrulid has over 40 years of experience in the construction and demolition industry. His background includes site work, excavating, environmental projects, and residential and commercial demolition. As a previous business owner, he brings valuable management skills to the organization. He directs projects and functions as the Chief Safety Officer for Atwell.  He carries current certificates for OHSA 40 hr. Hazmat/Hazwoper, MSHA and Maricopa Dust Qualification.


Arlon Bienfang

- Vice President, Field Operations


Mr. Bienfang has over 16 years experience with Atwell, his expertise is scheduling, mobilizing crew and managing project sites while being resource-efficient. Mr. Bienfang ensures that clients and vendors are advised of project progress and treated with respect. He emphasizes recycling, salvage and waste management in project plans.
